Splashing people with your car may break the law.

Driving through puddles and splashing others: Beware — you could be breaking the law

➡ You may be violating the Road Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979), Section 43, which states that anyone driving in a manner that clearly disregards the safety of others’ life or body is subject to imprisonment for up to 3 months, a fine ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 baht, or both imprisonment and a fine.

➡ If any property is damaged due to a vehicle splashing water onto it, the driver may be liable under the Criminal Code for causing property damage under Section 358, which carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to 3 years, a fine of up to 6,000 baht, or both imprisonment and a fine.

➡ Moreover, the injured party may claim compensation from the vehicle owner for any damage under the Civil and Commercial Code, Section 438.

📢 If you experience such an incident, take photos and videos as evidence and record the vehicle’s license plate number to report it to the police.
