Motorway M81 is open for free! 24 hours a day, starting from October 31.

The Department of Highways invites the public to try out the new route connecting Bang Yai to Kanchanaburi. The Department is preparing to open the Bang Yai–Kanchanaburi Intercity Motorway (M81), covering a total distance of 96 kilometers, for public trial use. All toll stations will be open free of charge, 24 hours a day, starting from October 31, 2025, at 12:01 a.m.

This trial opening aims to allow motorists to experience the actual route and enjoy a more convenient, faster, and safer journey to the western region. The motorway will be open to all vehicle types permitted on motorways.

During the trial period, the maximum speed limit is set at 80 km/h for cars, pickup trucks, vans, trucks, and buses, and 65 km/h for trailer trucks, as the construction and system testing are still ongoing. For safety reasons, full operation—with toll collection and a maximum speed limit of up to 120 km/h—is expected to begin by January 2026.
