How to Handle Hydroplaning: A Danger to Avoid.

Accidents During the Rainy Season Can Happen Anytime
Driving on rainy roads with wet, slippery surfaces and puddles may lead to hydroplaning.

Hydroplaning occurs when a vehicle drives at high speed through a puddle, causing the tires to ride on a thin layer of water instead of the road surface — leading to a loss of control. ‼️
There are several factors that contribute to hydroplaning, such as tire tread depth, road conditions, and the amount of water on the surface.

📢 How to Prevent Hydroplaning:

Reduce your speed while driving in the rain. Keep your eyes on the road ahead and maintain a firm grip on the steering wheel.

Increase the distance between your car and the vehicle in front to reduce the risk of collision.

Turn off Cruise Control so you can manually control your speed — this is the safest option. Cruise Control is best used on dry roads where frequent braking isn’t needed.

Avoid driving through standing water to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

💡 How to Handle Hydroplaning

  • Do not brake suddenly — this can cause the car to lose control.
  • Hold the steering wheel firmly, gradually reduce speed, and gently tap the brakes to help stabilize the car.

Tires are a critical part of vehicle safety.

  • Expired or old tires reduce traction.
  • Worn-out tread increases the chance of hydroplaning.

✅ Regularly check the condition of your tires and replace them when necessary to ensure optimal safety.
