When driving long distances and feeling tired or fatigued, what are the best practices for taking breaks to ensure a safe journey?
When you have driven approximately 150-200 kilometers or for 2 hours, it’s ideal to stop and take a break. ✅ Use this time to stand, walk, stretch, and relax your muscles. It’s also a good opportunity to eat and use the restroom. Take a break for about 15-20 minutes before continuing your journey to prevent cumulative fatigue.
If you drive for up to 3 hours, your body will start to accumulate fatigue. It’s not only your body that needs a break; the car also needs to be stopped to allow the engine to cool down and to relieve any accumulated stress. A break of at least 15-30 minutes is recommended.
If you drive continuously for up to 4 hours or more than 300 kilometers, you should stop immediately❗️ Take at least 30-60 minutes to rest, or switch drivers if possible. Continuing to drive without rest increases the risk of drowsiness and slower reaction times.⛔️
➡️ For the safest and most effective approach, having a conversation partner and taking turns driving can help you stay alert.💙
